From Washington to Kansas!

When Adam accepted the job to work for Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita, KS we were excited to begin a new adventure in the Midwest.  We never thought we would be living in Kansas but here we are and the new location has been such a blessing.  Our ward is amazing, our townhome is such a lovely first “house” for us, Adam’s job is good, and we are literally minutes from everywhere!
Getting to this point has been a stressful adventure to say the least.  The most stressful part of this big move is of course the move.  Thankfully the majority of our stuff was already in boxes but I was still amazed at how much we had left to pack.  We were really grateful to be able to hire a moving company to take our car and stuff to Kansas.
We were able to fly from Washington to Kansas and the morning of our flight was surreal.  It still hadn’t sunk in that we were leaving Washington, that our new home would be several states away from our family and friends.  We couldn’t just call our friends over for dinner or hang out and then drive back home later that evening.  We were leaving, we were leaving Washington.  We said good-bye to Adam’s mom and Adam’s cousin took us to the airport (thank you, Narea :) ).
At the airport we checked in our bags and got through security without any problems.  As we were gathering our things from the security check point, Adam noticed he did not have his coconut ring.  This ring is very important to him because he bought it during his church mission to Brazil.  I of course started freaking out and searched everywhere for it but with no luck.  I was thinking, “This is not how we should start our trip!”  Adam was really bummed about losing that ring but also very calm about it.  He said, “not to worry and we’ll just have to let it go.”  Of course I couldn’t and Adam went back to the security check point one last time.  I was searching through our carry- ons again and through our pockets.  In Adam’s jacket I pulled out his headphones which I didn’t see before and in the tangled mess his ring was hidden!  Such a relief to find that ring!  We laughed a little bit about our situation and that was the only hang up we had during our flight.
We arrived in Wichita very very late in the evening and I think it was midnight when we finally got to our hotel room, the beds were not comfortable, so unfortunately we did not get much sleep.  The following days after our arrival were so busy, we were constantly on the move to get groceries, find a bed, buy cleaning supplies and home essentials.  We arrived a few days before our stuff did, so we basically had nothing but the items in our suitcases.
Our first night in our home we had to sleep on the floor.  Adam made pillows for us out of our clothes and we bought a cheap blanket at Wal-mart.  We were relieved to be in our new home but wishing we had a comfy bed to sleep in, plus we were so cold!

Once the moving van came we were on the go again.  Unpacking box after box discovery items we forgot we had and trying to put everything in its proper place.  I started with the kitchen (my favorite place) and Adam started with the Den/ Entertainment room (his favorite place).  Our house was a complete mess of bubble wrap, boxes and towers of stuff.
Oh the Joys of Unpacking
